Lake Eufaula Multi Cultural Center

The Lake Eufaula Multi-Cultural Center was founded to establish a multi-cultural center in the Lake Eufaula area which is the crossroads of the Texas Road and the Fort Smith Santa Fe Trail (Hwy. 69 & Hwy 9). The area is rich in Native American history including the Muscogee Creek Nation, Choctaw Nation, and Cherokee Nation. Outlaw history is also prevalent through Belle Starr and her companions.  Belle Starr is buried on the southeast side of Lake Eufaula near the dam. Concluding the history outline is, of course, the building of Lake Eufaula, the largest man-made lake in the state of Oklahoma.  We are building an educational/museum-type facility that will enhance learning opportunities for children in the rural schools in Southeast Oklahoma as well as tourists and local residents of the Lake Eufaula area.

A Tourist Information Center will also be housed in the facility. Thousands of travelers pass through the area (Hwy69,9 and I-40) some stopping for information and rest stop facilities. Tourism is the number one industry in the Lake Eufaula area.
